Kep Province is a small province in southern Cambodia known for its peaceful beaches and beautiful views. It is bordered by Kampot Province to the north and east, and the Gulf of Thailand to the south and west. Kep is about 175 kilometers from Phnom Penh. Along the shoreline, visitors can see the lovely statue of Srey Sor sitting on a pedestal.

The original Srey Sor statue (The White Lady) was built in the 1950s by Mr. Tim Dong, the governor of Kep at that time. He created the statue to honor French women who once swam and sunbathed on Kep Beach, seeking tanned, reddish skin, which they considered beautiful.

Kep Beach was once famous for its refreshing scenery, inspiring writers to create a song for the legendary singer Sinn Sisamouth. The song, called “Visamakal Krong Kep = Vacation in Kep,” compared the town to a paradise.
