The Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), commonly known as Sala Techno, is one of Cambodia's oldest public higher education institutions. It specializes in engineering, science, and technology education and is located on Russian Federation Boulevard in Tuol Kork District, Phnom Penh.
Between 1964 and 1975, the institute trained a large number of professionals in engineering and technical fields to meet the country's development needs. However, during the Khmer Rouge regime (1975–1979), the institute was closed, and all educational activities were completely suspended. Following the fall of the Khmer Rouge, the institute reopened in 1980 with support from the Soviet Union. During this period, engineering and technical education was restored to help rebuild the country after years of war.
In 1993, the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of France signed an agreement to rehabilitate and further develop the institution. It was officially renamed the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (Institut de Technologie du Cambodge – ITC), a name it continues to use today.
For more than 60 years, the Institute of Technology of Cambodia has educated thousands of engineers and technical professionals who have made, and continue to make, valuable contributions to Cambodia's economic and social development.
Today, the institute offers doctoral programs in engineering, master's degrees in engineering, engineering degrees, and associate engineering degrees. It continues to strengthen the quality of its education, research, and innovation by enhancing academic excellence, human resources, infrastructure, laboratories, and physical facilities. These efforts are aimed at meeting the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) and promoting a competitive and highly efficient digital economy.
