Meaning Behind the “Kong Chak” Symbol of Stung Treng Province

The symbol of the “Kong Chak” is highly meaningful as a representation of Stung Treng Province, which holds significant potential for tourism. Surrounding the wheel are 17 smaller cogs along the outer circle, symbolizing the 17 ethnic groups residing in the province. These include both the Khmer majority and various ethnic minorities—altogether totaling 17 groups. This is why the Kong Chak was chosen to represent Stung Treng Province.

Stung Treng is a province rich in natural tourism resources and the traditional cultures of its ethnic minorities. Two rivers converge here—the Mekong and the Sekong—forming a confluence similar to the “Four-Faced River” (Chaktomuk) found in the capital city, Phnom Penh.
