Cambodia-Japan Friendship Bridge (Chroy Changvar Bridge)

Chroy Changvar Bridge, officially known as the Cambodia-Japan Friendship Bridge, is an important landmark in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The bridge spans the Tonlé Sap River, connecting Daun Penh District to Chroy Changvar District, with a total length of 971 meters.

The bridge was originally constructed in 1963 with funding from the Government of Cambodia and a grant from Japan. It was initially named the Sangkum Reastr Niyum Bridge. During the Cambodian Civil War, the bridge suffered heavy damage from bomb explosions in 1972 and 1973, causing it to collapse and become unusable. It remained closed until 1994, when it was reconstructed with Japanese aid and reopened under the name Cambodia-Japan Friendship Bridge.

Today, the Chroy Changvar Bridge serves as a major transportation artery in the capital city of Phnom Penh.
