January 7th (Prampir Makara) is the second birthday of the Cambodian people. It brought new life to Khmer families and to the entire nation, rescuing them from the mass killings of the genocidal regime of Pol Pot, and marking the beginning of national development from ground zero toward progress in all sectors, under the shade of peace and social development.
The spirit of January 7 is clearly expressed in the slogan: “Without January 7, we would have nothing today.” This means that the Victory Day of January 7 represents a new chapter in independence, freedom, democracy, and social progress. It also signifies national unity and the end of decades-long war, under the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party.
In summary, January 7, 1979, is an undeniable historical truth that no one can distort, exaggerate, erase, or destroy. Today, all Cambodian citizens, especially Cambodian youth, remember this historical truth and clearly understand the invaluable sacrifices made by the previous generation of youth in the noble cause of seeking peace for the nation and the motherland.
Therefore, we, the younger generation, firmly and resolutely commit ourselves to safeguarding harmony, territorial integrity, and the sovereignty of the Khmer Nation forever.
